ABOUT SASP

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) is the national governing body for the Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP), offering youth from grade school through college the opportunity to safely participate in our exciting team-based action shooting sports!

a sport like no other

SASP is designed to instill in young people a set of personal values and character traits for fair play, compassionate understanding, individual responsibility, sportsmanship, self-discipline, and personal commitment. As the sport itself, these qualities will stay with them throughout their lifetimes, helping each young athlete reach his or her full potential.

  • Youth may participate using .22 rifles, .22 handguns, pistol caliber carbines (PCC), and/or centerfire handguns.
  • Targets are steel circle or rectangular plates.
  • All courses of fire are timed events.

Quick Start Guide

Get started in the SASP as an athlete or adult volunteer with this Quick Start Guide for new and prospective members.

The SASP is a National Youth Shooting Program focused on “Team!” There is no room for the win-at-all-costs attitude like exists in many other your sports.

Much like football, baseball, basketball, and track, we help build school teams and conferences across the country and have been doing so since 2012 under the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF).

FAQs

Our discipline is speed shooting on steel targets, which is unique to our program, combining the best features of other disciplines to allow student athletes to practice and participate in exciting matches with less specialized equipment.

Rookie Division – Grades 5 and below

Junior Division – 6th – 8th Grade

Senior Division – 9th – 12th Grade

Collegiate Division – anyone who is enrolled as a full-time college student.

How do I start my own team?
You need a head coach and a minimum of four athletes who want to form a team and be able to compete in matches that are held locally, by state, regionally, and nationally, plus a place where the athletes can practice their skills.
How many shooters can be on our team?
