Ruger Vaquero revolver auction to benefit SASP

Ruger Firearms has generously donated a Ruger® Vaquero 45 Long Colt single-action revolver to benefit the Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP). The revolver is being auctioned on Gunbroker.com now through January 16th at 9:17 AM.

The Ruger® Vaquero® was first introduced in 1993 and is recognized as incorporating the frontier virtues of strength, reliability, and durability. This revolver has a high-gloss stainless steel finish. The serial number 55-03064 tells us this revolver was rollmarked February 15, 1993. “RUGER VAQUERO® .45 CAL.” is stamped on the left side of the cylinder frame. The Vaquero is equipped with a rounded blade front sight with no ramp and a fixed notch rear sight in a groove on the topstrap. Other features include a 5-1/5 inch barrel, a 6-round 45 Long Colt cylinder, and rosewood grip panels with silver and black Ruger Eagle medallions inserted in the grips. This Vaquero revolver had been stored in a brown hinged cardboard box along with an appropriate instruction manual and locking device. The revolver has not been fired beyond normal factory testing, and is being sold “as is.” The purchaser assumes all liability for its safe and proper ownership, storage, use, and resale. The revolver is a part of the Ruger factory collection in Southport, Connecticut, and a Certificate of Authenticity will be mailed to the winner of the auction. Note: the winner of this auction will be responsible for paying the Federal Excise Tax of $31.28.

Ohio Steel Stingers Give Back

In the Spirit of giving back to our community the Ohio Steel Stinger athletes volunteered at on April 28, 2018 to run the bases with special needs children from the Greater Cincinnati, Ohio Area.  The Team joined the baseball players with various special needs at the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields in Fairfield, Ohio.

The Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields at Hatton Park are the realization of one of several charitable works envisioned by the late major league pitcher and Reds broadcaster Joe Nuxhall.

Encounters with service organizations dedicated to helping children and adults with disabilities, as well as his association with amateur sports organizations of all kinds, led Joe to the realization that no baseball diamonds existed to facilitate unrestricted play for people with physical and mental challenges. He developed a resolve to provide such a ballpark for his community.

The Ohio Steel Stingers were partnered with individual players to help them hit the ball, run the bases, field the ball or just have fun.  Smiles were seen throughout the park from the players and their new buddies.

Ruger Police Service Six on Auction to Benefit SASP

Ruger Firearms has generously donated a Police Service-Six® .357 mag – 1986 revolver to benefit the Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP). The revolver is being auctioned on Gunbroker.com now through May 2, 12:30PM eastern time.

We have for auction a Ruger® Police Service-Six® double-action revolver. The serial number on this revolver is 159-93030, and the production date is April 10, 1986. The revolver had been shipped to a commercial distributor and then returned to the factory. There are no notes as to why it was returned. A letter “U” is stamped to the right of the serial number located on the bottom of the grip frame. The “U” indicates a used firearm. This .357 Magnum stainless revolver holds six rounds. The major parts are heat-treated chrome-molybdenum steel. Features include a 4” heavy barrel and fixed sights. It has a square butt grip frame featuring checkered walnut grip panels with silver-colored Ruger eagle medallions. Service-Six® revolvers were first introduced in 1971 and were in production through 1987. The GP100® double-action revolver, which is still in production today, replaced the Police Service-Six®, Security-Six®, and Speed-Six® revolvers. The Ruger® Service-Six® revolver is being sold “as is,” and the purchaser assumes all liability for its safe and proper ownership, storage, use, and resale. The revolver is a part of the Ruger factory collection in Southport, Connecticut, and a certificate of Authenticity will be mailed to the winner of the auction.

Ruger M77 Mark II Express Rifle Auction to Benefit SASP

Ruger Firearms has generously donated a Ruger® M77® Mark II Express Rifle to benefit the Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP). The rifle is being auctioned on Gunbroker.com now through April 25, 12:30PM eastern time.

This week’s auction is a 7mm Rem Mag caliber Ruger® M77® Mark II Express rifle. The Express models were first introduced in 1992. The serial number on this rifle is 760-01613, and the roll mark date is July 22, 1992. The M77® Mark II Express rifles were initially made within the “780-“ prefix serial number range. After a few hundred Express rifles were built, the serial numbering was then changed to the “760-“ prefix. This rifle has not been fired beyond normal factory testfiring. The rifle features a 24-inch blued barrel with matted quarter rib and is factory machined to accommodate Ruger scope rings. It has a blade front sight and v-notch rear express sights: one stationary and two folding that is drift adjustable for windage. Other features include a black composition forend tip and black rubber recoil pad with embossed Ruger® eagle logo. The steel pistol grip cap also features the Ruger® eagle logo. The M77® Express rifle has a steel hinged floorplate and trigger guard with a staggered box magazine that holds three cartridges. The stock is polyurethane-finish French walnut with checkering on the pistol grip and forend. A set of sling swivels and a set of scope rings are included with this rifle. It will be shipped in the rifle box it had been stored in along with an original manual and marketing materials. The rifle is being sold “as is.” The purchaser assumes all liability for its safe and proper ownership, storage, use, and resale. RUGER Single-Six “Friends of NRA” Auction to Benefit SASP

Ruger Firearms has generously donated a New Model Single-Six® “Friends of NRA” to benefit the Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP). The revolver is being auctioned on Gunbroker.com now through April 18, 12:30PM eastern time.

This New Model Single-Six® has a serial number of 264-45812, and the rollmark date is December 30, 2003. This revolver is one of a limited production run of Single-Six® revolvers used as auction items at “Friends of NRA” events held around the country in 2004. The revolver features cocobolo grip panels with the “NRA” logo medallions. This blued revolver has a 6-1/2 inch barrel with a ramp front sight and a click adjustable rear sight The cylinder is marked “17 HMR CAL” and the Ruger Eagle logo and “.17 HMR” are stamped into the top strap. It will be shipped in the gray plastic revolver case it had been stored in along with an original instruction manual, purchaser record card, and cable lock. The revolver appears to have not been fired beyond normal testing during manufacture, and is being sold “as is.” The purchaser assumes all liability for its safe and proper ownership, storage, use, and resale. The revolver is a part of the Ruger factory collection in Southport, Connecticut, and a Certificate of Authenticity will be mailed to the winner of the auction. RUGER® Engraved 50th Anniversary 357 Mag Blackhawk to Benefit SASP

The Ruger® Blackhawk® single-action revolver in .357 Magnum was Sturm, Ruger’s first-ever centerfire revolver and is the foundation of the legendary Ruger single-action family. Available only in 2005, the 50th Anniversary New Model Blackhawk offers a unique opportunity to own a revolver with the look and feel of the original “Flat Top” design and all the benefits of 50 years of continuous refinements. Like the 1955 Ruger Blackhawk, the 50th Anniversary New Model Blackhawk is chambered in .357 Magnum with a 4-5/8 inch barrel. It offers many original features including a blued, original Blackhawk-size “Flat Top” frame with a micro-adjustable rear sight, and a smaller pre-1962 “XR-3” grip frame with checkered “hard rubber” grips bearing original-style black Ruger medallions. This 50th Anniversary New Model Blackhawk has a serial number of 520-02060 and was roll marked March 16, 2005. It was shipped to Automated Finishing for engraving work and features a Western-style scroll engraving on the top strap, cylinder, cylinder frame, and grip frame. This engraved model WAS NOT a regular production. The revolver has been stored in its original red plastic 50th Anniversary Blackhawk case along with an anniversary booklet, original instruction manual, marketing materials, case lock and keys. Ruger Donates 1982 Standard Model Pistol

Ruger Firearms has generously donated a 1982 Standard Model pistol to benefit the Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP). 

The pistol is being auctioned on Gunbroker.com now through March 14, 12:30PM eastern time.

This week’s auction is a Ruger® Standard Model Pistol. The serial number is 17-76914 and the testfire date is February 11, 1982. This pistol has never been fired beyond normal testing during manufacture. Manufacture of the Standard Model pistols began in 1949 and were in production until the Mark II series was introduced in 1982. That makes this one of the last Standard Models produced. This pistol features a tapered 4-3/4” barrel; a fixed, wide-blade Patridge-type front sight; and a windage-adjustable, square notch, dovetail-mounted rear sight. The grip panels are made of butaprene-type hard rubber with sharp diamond checkering and a silver-colored Ruger eagle medallion inlaid in the right grip panel. The trigger is grooved and has a 3/8 inch wide curved finger surface. The Standard Model Pistol will be shipped in its original yellow and black-hinged cardboard box along with a 9-shot magazine, original instruction manual, purchaser record card, and marketing literature. The pistol is being sold “as is,” and the purchaser assumes all liability for its safe and proper ownership, storage, use, and resale. Ruger Donates two “U.S.” marked Mark II Pistols to Benefit the Scholastic Action Shooting Program

Ruger Firearms has generously donated two rare and collectible “U.S.” marked Mark II .22 LR caliber pistol to benefit the Scholastic Action Shooting Program. The pistols are being auctioned on Gunbroker.com as follows:

We have for auction two “U.S.” marked Mark II .22 LR caliber pistols with a rollmark date of November 3, 1983. These are likely a proto-type of the MK678G training pistols manufactured for the U.S. Army from 1984 – 1986. The pistol has a heavy tapered 6-7/8 inch barrel. The “U.S.” stamp is larger than the contracted models, and the front sight is a higher Patridge-type fixed front sight.

Additionally, the U.S. Army pistols’ serial numbers began with prefix 210-. In 1983, Ruger was awarded a contract from the U.S. Army, Rock Island Arsenal for a .22 caliber target and training pistol for the U.S. armed forces. A new model was established to meet the U.S. Army’s requirements (catalog no. MK678G), and this was the first time Ruger Mark II pistols were equipped with 6 7/8″ bull barrels. The MK678G pistols were rollmarked “U.S.” on the right side of the barrel/receiver assembly, had finer sights, a roller-burnished chamber, and enhanced accuracy.

Special targeting methods were developed using a (then) new laser sighting system, which was later granted a U.S. patent. The laser targeting system worked very well during production, and each pistol was packed with a target attesting to its compliance with the U.S. Government accuracy standards for such pistols. The duration of the contract lasted until 1986, and the Company ultimately shipped over 17,000 pistols to the U.S. Army. No “U.S.” marked pistols were shipped commercially during the period of the government contract.
