Robust Insurance for SCTP & SASP Teams This Season

The Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) and Scholastic action Shooting Program (SASP) are ready and welcoming youth shooting sports teams from around the country for yet another successful shooting competition season!

As the leader in youth shooting sports, these programs go above and beyond in providing safe and fun competitive programs. Programs that instill confidence and respect while getting youth “off the couches” and participating in these highly energetic activities! Youth from grades 5 through College are welcome as well as any other organized youth programs like Boy/Girl Scouts, 4H, AIM, FFA, US Naval Sea Cadets, USAYESS and more. The SCTP and SASP do not discriminate and welcome everyone!

These programs were started by Industry and ran under the auspice of the NSSF back in 2001. As true today, Industry stands behind them 100% with both financial and product support making them the most supported youth shooting organization in the world!

Keeping in line with our standard of being #1, the SSSF liability insurance policy now provides a general aggregate limit of $10 million. The SSSF Commercial General Liability Insurance policy is the most comprehensive coverage available in the industry for youth shooting sports athletes, volunteer coaches, advisors, and other volunteers who have joined the SCTP and SASP. The new aggregate limit is twice that of previous policies.

The SCTP is involved with all the clay target sports including Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays, Double Trap, Handicap Trap, Skeet Doubles, International Skeet and Bunker Trap and is the official youth program to USA Shooting!

Being a member of the SCTP or SASP is only $25 for athletes and $35 for coaches and volunteers. Sportsman’s Insurance Agency (SIAI) provides the unprecedented commercial general liability coverage for SSSF, which is underwritten by T.H.E. Insurance Company, an AM Best A- rated company. Sportsman’s also provides endorsed insurance programs for organizations such as the NSSA-NSCA, ATA, SCI and more.

SSSF is also pleased to offer the nation’s finest gun insurance to members of SCTP/SASP through Sportsman’s Insurance Agency Inc.

SASP is involved with all aspects of Pistol and Rifle competition for youth around the country. Action shooting sports continue to grow in the country. Which became even more evident this year when the SASP National Championships became the world’s largest action shooting match held in history.

The youth shooting sports program season started September 1^st and the season runs through August 31^st.

SSSF Seeks Information Technology Project Manager

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) is seeking a highly motivated individual to assume the role of Information Technology Project Manager. The successful candidate will have a background in product management and be responsible all aspects of customer facing software application development, testing, training, implementation and support for the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of customer facing information technology (IT) project management for the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation, Scholastic Clay Target Program and Scholastic Action Shooting Program. Successful candidate will play a key role in the organizations ability to recruit and retain members and supporters.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

Managing all aspects of customer facing applications and software life cycle for the SSSF and its programs including development, implementation, support and retirement
Working with diverse groups including SSSF/SCTP/SASP management, customers, partners, contractors and other stakeholders to accurately assess current and future information technology needs required to increase membership, event participation and overall support of the SSSF and its programs
Prioritizing information technology needs and developing detailed IT project proposals and product road maps for program and foundation management
Creating timelines, developing budgets and identifying resources required for successful project completion of both short and long-term IT projects
Providing point solutions and integrations as needed to satisfy business needs
Documenting projects and communicating regular progress with all stakeholders
Creating comprehensive testing and implementation plans
Working with IT support staff to develop both internal and customer training materials
Planning and executing both internal and end-user training
Interacting with management, staff, membership, contractors and others to execute job duties
Constantly monitoring and evaluating technology trends and developments

Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation Awards Over $100,000 in Scholarships

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation through their Scholastic Clay Target Program and their Scholastic Action Shooting Program awarded 126 youth athletes over $100,000.00 in college Scholarships through their scholarship program and at the 2019 National Championships in Marengo, Ohio last month.

Tom Wondrash, National Director noted, “this is the first time our combined programs were able to award our Youth Athletes and their families over $100,000.00 in college scholarships. We could not have done it without the generous support of our program sponsors who continue to step up and support this initiative”.

In addition to the scholarships awarded to SCTP and SASP youth athletes that apply for these awards,at this years National Championships special scholarships were awarded by Browning, Beretta, and Blaser USA. In order to be eligble, athletes must have shot a Browning shotgun in 16 yard singles trap, a Beretta shotgun in the skeet event or a Blaser shotgun in the sporting clays event.

Winners of those scholarships include:

Browning Trap: Grace Marlen (St. Louis, MO), $7,600
Beretta Skeet: Graham Eubanks (Eatonton, GA) $4,000
Blaser Sporting Clays: Baylor Garland (Eatonton, GA), $5,000

“The smiles on the faces of our athletes that are awarded college scholarships makes it all worthwhile” said SASP National Director Rick Leach. “College is such a significant financial commitment for all our youth athletes and their families. These college scholarships, no matter what the amount are something the youth athletes themselves can contribute to the effort”.

SCTP and SASP National Championships will Remain at The Cardinal Shooting Center Through 2029

On Friday, May 31, 2019 Ben Berka, Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation President and Executive Director announced that SSSF has entered into an agreement with the Cardinal Shooting Center to host their July Scholastic Clay Target Program and Scholastic Action Shooting Program National Championships through the year 2029.

The Cardinal Shooting Center, one of this country’s largest features 52 Trap Houses, 14 Skeet Fields, 2 Sporting Clays Courses an International Bunker Trap and a 5 Stand! They also have 14 Pistol & Rifle Bays, as well as an Archery Practice Range and 3D Archery course for the Pistol, Rifle and bow enthusiasts alike! For 2019, the Cardinal Shooting Center will have completed their state-of-the-art “Shot Curtain System’, providing a common background for all trap shooters as well as an efficient platform to reclaim lead shot.

Tom Wondrash, SCTP National Director stated “Everyone involved with SCTP is excited about our new 10-year contract with The Cardinal Shooting Center. Beginning in 2020, the Cardinal Shooting Center will add 6-8 additional skeet fields as well as the possibility for additional American Trap and Bunker Trap facilities in the future. We couldn’t be happier to have agreed upon a long-term deal with Cardinal knowing they welcome our athletes, teams and families with open arms each and every year!”

In addition to the SCTP and SASP National Championships in July, the Cardinal Shooting Center is also home for The SCTP College National Championships, SCTP Spring Regional and the SASP Fall Regional Competition. The Cardinal Center also plays host to some of the country’s largest open shooting events including Karen’s Cup, the Ohio state shoot, the Buckeye Open, Cardinal Classic and the “Red Bird” Sporting Classic!

Luke Spengler, Trap manager and tournament director at the Cardinal Shooting Center made the following statement following the completion of the new 10-year agreement. “We are extremely excited to know our youth athletes will be at the Cardinal Shooting Center competing on a national level through 2029. 2019 Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation All-Scholastic Team Announced

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation(SSSF) is proud to announce members of the 2019 All-Scholastic Team!

Over 230 student athletes from 24 states have been named to the team this year and will be recognized at the opening ceremonies of the SSSF/SCTP/SASP Team Championship event on July 17 in Marengo, Ohio.

The All-Scholastic Team recognizes the top student athletes in the SSSF’s Scholastic Clay Target and Scholastic Action Shooting Program for their achievements in the classroom, on the range and in their communities. Through an application process, 2019 All-Scholastic Team Members have proven academic excellence by posting 3.0 or better grade point averages, shooting excellent scores in recent competition (95% in trap or skeet, 85% in sporting clays, 88% in international trap/skeet or 75 seconds or less for SASP) and by demonstrating outstanding community involvement.

2019 SCTP & SASP National Championships

The 2019 Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) and Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) National Championships is scheduled for July 13-20th at the Cardinal Shooting Center in Marengo, OH. Last year’s event had nearly 300 teams and 3,000 athletes from 26 states! We hope you can join us for this season finale!

Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) registration is currently open in the SHOT system for team coaches to register.

Scholastic Clay Target Program pre-registration began on May 15th with general registration through the SHOT system June 1st.

Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation 2020 Scholarship Program

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF), is once again offering our scholarship program to reward deserving, graduating seniors in the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) and Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) with needed college assistance. The main objective is to award as many scholarships as possible to qualifying SCTP / SASP graduating seniors.

Since 2013, the SSSF has awarded over $450,000 in scholarship funds benefiting over 450 student athletes, from nearly all 50 states in the Scholastic Clay Target and Scholastic Action Shooting programs. We are pleased to announce that last year’s Scholarship Program awarded over $100,000 to qualifying applicants.

The SSSF is establishing minimal guidelines for the selection procedure, thus allowing the final selection to be as simple as possible.

*NOTE – You must be a current and paid member of the SCTP or SASP national organization at the time of application submission! See details on how to complete your team registration here.

General Procedures: Each applicant must be a graduating senior within the year of the awarded scholarship and must be registered for college before the scholarship is awarded in that same year.• Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative Grade Point Average through the most recent grading period ending on or before April 1, 2020.

• Each prospective recipient must be registered as a full-time college student before the scholarship is awarded and must provide the name of the post-secondary college or community/ junior college to receive the scholarship proceeds. Each scholarship check will be mailed to the appropriate college in the student’s name by October 1, 2020. The scholarship funds are to be used for tuition. This is a one-time, non-renewable scholarship.

• Applicants may not be in receipt of any “full” scholarship funds in order to qualify (i.e., athletics, military academy, academic, etc.).

• Applicants must have participated during 2019-2020 in one of their SCTP / SASP State Championships, National Championships, or regional events in Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays, Olympic Bunker, Olympic Skeet Championships; Pistol or Rifle.

• Applicants must be able to complete all parts of the application packet:

SSSF Donates Nearly $500,000 to MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment Accounts

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) recently donated $480,281 to Team Endowment Accounts at the MidwayUSA Foundation. Teams earned funds by raising money through the SSSF’s Vision 20/20 fundraising campaign, SCTP and SASP national fundraisers and by placing in SCTP/SASP national events. These donations have benefited 97 teams participating in the Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) and Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) across 25 different states.

Since 2014 the SSSF has donated over $6.5 million to benefit 642 SCTP and SASP team endowment accounts across 45 states at the MidwayUSA Foundation.

The SSSF provides SCTP and SASP member-teams the opportunity to earn MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment Account funds by participating in SCTP and SASP fundraising activities benefiting local shooting sports communities and through placements in SSSF-sponsored competitions . Please contact the SSSF for more information on how your shooting team can earn team endowment funding for their account at the MidwayUSA Foundation.

SSSF Donates Over $200,000 to Scholastic Clay Target Program Team Endowment Accounts

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) recently donated $207,628 to Team Endowment Accounts at the MidwayUSA Foundation. Teams earned funds by raising money through Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) sponsored fundraising activities and by placing in SCTP national events. SSSF also matched national governing body fees paid by SCTP teams through the SSSF’s SHOT data-system. This donation has benefited 336 teams participating in the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) across 35 different states.

The donations from SSSF to MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment Accounts established to benefit SCTP and Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) member-teams are made possible, in part, by grants to the SSSF from the Tulsa Community Foundation Youth Shooting Fund established and funded by the generosity of Larry and Brenda Potterfield.

Since 2014 the SSSF has donated nearly $6.5 million to benefit 630 SCTP and SASP team endowment accounts at the MidwayUSA Foundation.
