Scholastic Action Shooting Program Expands To Include Air Disciplines

SASP Athletes practice air pistol

The Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) is excited to announce the expansion of International Air Rifle, Air Pistol, and Sport Pistol disciplines to its youth shooting sports program.

With these new additions, the SASP continues to pursue its mission of facilitating youth development through shooting sports. As the official youth feeder program for USA Shooting (USAS), SASP will form a SASP international team and continue to host Junior Olympic Development Camps to help identify athletes who have the potential to become USA Shooting National Team members and ultimately, Olympic champions.

“As the youth feeder program for USAS, adding these new international disciplines expands opportunities for youth athletes with dreams of becoming Olympic athletes,” said Rick Leach, SASP National Director. “With these new disciplines, we anticipate working with additional program sponsors that are focused on supporting youth air gun sports. We look forward to working with the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), USAS and other national shooting programs to grow youth shooting sports in the nation.”

2020 Ruger Auctions Raise Over $27,000 For SASP

In an incredible act of supporting youth shooting sports, Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) Founding Partner Sponsor, Ruger has again auctioned off rare, hard to find models, with all proceeds benefiting the SASP.

The first auction for the year kicked off in early January with a Ruger Vaquero revolver, with new auctions being introduced each Wednesday. Due to the events of 2020, the Ruger auctions were paused in the spring but were resumed in September with the final six auction items.

A variety of rare, Ruger firearms were auctioned off with all proceeds going to the SASP

The success of this auction series begins with Ruger’s generosity and dedication to supporting youth shooting sports. Eighteen, unique Ruger firearms auctions attracted both supporters of the SASP and firearms collectors alike. Thanks to the direct support of GunBroker, these auctions were made visible on the GunBroker landing page, increasing visibility for both bidding success and awareness of the SASP. The incredible support from the firearms industry is a sign that youth shooting sports is healthy and growing!

  4. Submit donations to SSSF either securely online or via the print-and-mail form prior to January 1, 2021. Be sure to include your SSSF team ID on ALL donations so the donations can be allocated correctly. SSSF will provide you with periodic updates about donations received for your team.
